I've owned razer (pre switch change), Logitech, and Corsair keyboards and there was always something that pissed me off. Razer had great software and the coolest integrations but quality for price nosedived a while back. (I don't know why I bought the kiyo webcam. Autofocuses breaks every few months but the damn Logitech wasn't available.)
Logitech wow'd me with their hardware but the software experience has consistently been the worst.
Corsair has been middle of the road. I've owned a couple and after a few years they both started double registering. Totally reasonable wear and tear, but they aren't exactly worth opening to deep clean.
Then the wooting. I feared I was sacrificing feel for the new hall effect switches but there is no compromise in this keyboard. I'm making this review because I remembered how much it does right just by watching others do it wrong. I saw a review with no removable cable and proprietary keystems for optical switches and I just feel glad to have this.
I downloaded software months ago, set some settings and then just... Uninstalled it. I don't have to worry about background crap bogging down my computer (don't laugh, Asus aura has been a thorn in my side for a long time)
I don't know. I just really like it. I've spent several hundred dollars on black keyboards with RGB features and this is the one that makes me feel like my quest is over for good. I may have lowered my standards over time because of logitech's shitty software, but this keyboard is a breath of fresh air.
It's invisible to my experience of my computer. No disruptive sound. No irritations with hardware or software. No problems. Ever.
Generally surpassed expectations.
- Hardware is extremely high quality (solid), good keycaps and smooth switches (stabilized switches are slightly rattly, but much less than average)
- Rapid trigger and analog functionality is responsive and reliable
- Software works on Chromium and also with native Windows/Linux apps, easy to use
After a month of use i still really like this keyboard. Especially the software and configuration are unparalleled by other products.
There are however 2 downsides: the minor one is that it gets a little bit of a "scratchy" feel after a while, as if there is not enough lube on the switches. This is only a concern for very sensitive people and i still like it. The major downside is the wrist rest. I really regret getting it as it doesn't connect to the actual keyboard so if you move the keyboard you have to move it seperately with it. It also is very prone to sliding just a little bit and it is infuriating.
Would recommend regardless
The keyboard is great, I love typing on it and the analog features definitely work (they do need some time to get used to). But in the software you can only have 4 profiles, which means that sometimes i need to open the software to switch between profiles.
Linux support for the software is nice. and Just shapes and Beats is my favorite game to play with it.
Really like the board and especially the rapid trigger function.
